For many reasons, that show of his - while a great idea in the big picture - really irked me. Mostly because he just missed SO much. He said several ignorant (and just plain stupid) things and he demonstrated a huge lack of respect for the food he was eating. The man threw a chicken onto the counter to "teach" children about cooking. Awesome.
I get it that any improvement is great and vitally important - but he just missed so so much. Cooking on Teflon? Teflon dude? He never EVER mentioned organic, or local. Getting rid of the strawberry and chocolate milk was great because it cut out the sugar - but the milk those kids are drinking is disgusting. Passing that off as healthy was just one of many things that bothered me. I also have to wonder if every public school across America is eating as poorly as the one profiled in this show. Somehow - I doubt it.
Speaking of annoying things in the world of food and nutrition - I saw the newest craze in calcium supplements - sugar and (bad) fat laden chocolates. There are even "healthy" versions. It makes me appreciate real beautiful food. Like the food in this picture.
